functional dentistry and occlusion from new generation

Single-Tooth Implant – All the Steps That Ensure Permanence, Aesthetics, Function, and Comfort

Functional dentistry views teeth as part of a larger system—the gums, teeth, jaw joints, bones, and muscles, all interconnected. A missing tooth affects everything from bite alignment to chewing efficiency and jaw stability.

A well-placed implant integrates seamlessly, preserving both the function and aesthetics of the smile as well as overall health.

However, although it may seem simple, replacing a missing tooth with an implant is not a trivial task. It requires many precise steps to create shiny, firm, and properly positioned teeth.

Functional Dentistry's Approach to Implants

Our detailed diagnostics include not only X-rays, impressions, or digital 3D scans but also advanced and holistic checks such as bone density and blood tests.

Also, teeth aren’t passive, still objects. Their position and interaction affect the jaw joints, and even a minor misalignment can cause tooth damage, joint misalignment, or discomfort. That’s why, in our diagnostic protocol, we use a device called a condylographer. It helps us understand jaw and tooth movements precisely, ensuring the implant will fit harmoniously within the masticatory system, supporting aesthetics, comfort, and proper function.

Detailed diagnostics helps us to plan each procedure individually, taking into account all our patient’s needs and health conditions.

After diagnostics are finished, we create a detailed plan and start with a procedure by placing a titanium post in the jawbone as an artificial root. After three to six months of healing, an abutment is attached, followed by a crown that matches the surrounding teeth in color and shape.

While the surgical phase is relatively brief, the planning and healing stages are crucial for avoiding issues like implant failure, infection, or misalignment-related discomfort.

How to Approach Multiple Consultations

An important part of a successful dental implant is minimizing discomfort and supporting fast and efficient recovery.

Detailed diagnostics, including blood tests, help us understand the patient’s overall health status and plan treatment accordingly, while also allowing us to adjust and personalize anesthesia.

Instead of classical anesthesia, performed with injections, we use a sophisticated anesthetic device that delivers a personalized type and dose of anesthesia throughout the procedure. This ensures maximal comfort and safely prevents pain.

By customizing the type and amount of anesthesia to each patient’s needs—considering factors like health conditions—this approach not only improves the patient experience but also contributes to the overall success of dental implants.

Lowering stress and keeping the patient in a sense of security prevents fight-or-flight reactions that hinder recovery and slow down the healing process.

Enhanced Healing with Light Therapy

To support the healing process after implantation, we use a technology called Photobiomodulation (PBM), which uses red and near-infrared light to stimulate cells to produce more ATP, the energy required for cellular repair.

This energy boost accelerates tissue regeneration and reduces inflammation and discomfort around the implant site. PBM also minimizes the risks of infection and complications, promoting a smoother, faster recovery and improving the implant’s overall success.

The treatment is non-invasive and painless.

Strict Hygiene Protocol is Modest but Powerful Ally in Precision Dentistry

The cornerstone of successful medical treatments is optimal hygiene. Vulnerable healing tissues benefit most from an infection-free environment. At Coldy Dent, we rigorously follow strict hygiene practices, including disinfecting surfaces and instruments with hospital-grade cleaners and using thermal, mechanical, and chemical sterilization. Our practices ensure a safe environment for implant recovery and protect the implant’s longevity, as each step in hygiene helps the body focus solely on healing.

Each tooth is an essential component of the masticatory system and impacts overall health. Although implant procedures may seem straightforward, they require meticulous attention to ensure precise, painless results, prompt recovery, and long-term alignment. By focusing on each detail, we strive to achieve the best possible outcomes for our patients.
